Dominican classics to the sound of jazz at Plaza España

 

 

 

 

Pengbian Sang & Retro Jazz present the concert Jazzeando el Cancionero Dominicano on Saturday, 19 May 2018, from 8:30pm at Plaza España in the Colonial City. This is a continuation of parts 1 and 2 that attracted over 5,000 fans to this popular public space. Admission is free.

The production offers a tribute to musicians and composers Manuel Tejada, José Antonio Rodríguez, Juan Luis Guerra, Billo Frómeta, Julio Alberto Hernández and Luis Dias, there merengues, sones, boleros and ballads now recreated by Dominican jazz players.

"Jazzeando el Cancionero Dominicano, Vol. 3" is an 11 track album by Pengbian Sang y Retro Jazz. The members of Retro Jazz are: Pengbian Sang (bass and musical direction), Nairoby Duarte (vocalos), Jesús ¨Gury¨ Abreu (saxophone), Federico Méndez (guitar), Álvaro Dinzey (keyboard), Guy Frómeta (drums) and Edgar Molina (percussion).
