Dominican Consulate
Once you receive the prepared Power of Attorney from us and have your Settlment Agreement you will need to take these to your local Dominican Cosulate and it will need to be signed by you and your spouse at the Dominican Consulate.

Remember to take along your passports, your marriage certificate and the birth certificates of your minor children (if any) and the settlement agreement.

At the Consulate the text will be retyped and you will be asked to sign it in the presence of a consular officer.
Sometimes the text is not reproduced word for word. Just make sure that the basic information and terms are not changed. Also, please have the consular officer stamp ("visto bueno") on the marriage certificate, the birth certificate and the settlement agreement. Again, it may be that they will tell you that it's not needed. Insist on it because the court will not accept these docs unless they have gone through the Consulate.

Please fax us or e-mail us an executed copy of the Power of Attorney, the marriage certificate, the birth certificate and of the stamped page of the Settlement Agreement as soon as you receive it from the Consulate.

Hearing date
When we receive the documents, we will confirm with you that the documents are in good order, and set a date for the court appearance. Once you have completed these steps we are ready to go forward with the divorce.
