Ok, you may ask how is the PRO Golf Tourney related with the DR. Well I understand that this US PGA Tour event that was played alongside the CA Championship in Miami had a first. I was told that there was a Dominican Golf Professional for the very first time that competed in a PGA Tour event this past week.
His name is Mr. Julio Santos, and he is the Head Pro at Playa Dorada. Yes Mr. Santos missed the cut along with many notable seasoned pros with a 2 round total of plus 6. However, it should be noted that all players had a very difficult week of play due to the course conditions (2 days rain delay), and tee time allocation for some which included Mr. Santos. So even if he had to wait until Sunday to play his 2nd round after shooting even par in rd 1, hats off to Mr. Santos in accepting the challenge in competing in this event, which one would hope will not be his last.

I stand corrected if any other Dominican that you may know has ever played in a sponsored event held by the US PGA Tour or European Tour.

I applaud Julio as well. He's playing with some big boyz. He's been a bright spot for PD ambiance and hopefully will bring the course up to better standards. I was on the putting green today and it is atrocious, really poor. The course itself is fine however. They just need a little bit of a push, a little tweaking, and the R.T. Jones designed place would be excellent. Right now, having seen Metro in SD (Juan Dolio) last week again, Chio needs to get his shyte together and let the wife do her political thing and he might run a good show. Don't think that will happen, but, there's always hope.

Putting was his problem and that is probably related to the putting condition of Playa Dorada greens - hard to putt on good greens when you are used putting on shag carpet at PD. Way to go Julio, hope you get some more chances..
