So tourist developers can buy land in national parks, but they aren't allowed to develop it in ways that defy the protected area legislation. Clearly with the amount of money they are spending, these developers are expecting to get away with doing whatever they like.

Of course, the Dominican state routinely ignores the property rights of thousands of campesinos who have land inside protected areas, including those whose tenure predates the creation of protected areas.

Let me make this one easy. There is not such a thing as protected area in DR.
This is nothing more than a scam that the corrupt inept Dominican politicians created to make sure that they have plenty of land now and in the future to continue stealing
and getting money from who pay the best price. Only idiots would think that with the amount of corruption in the DR, the politicians will care about their country.
I do not know, if it is the heat, Brugal, or the food, but at some given time Dominicans lost their marbles.
