Hello all, I have been to the DR for an extended stay in the past and am now thinking of moving there permanently. How is the market for chefs? Do any jobs come with housing?

You do realize an experienced Dominican chef earns RD10,000/month?
Try the cruise lines for free housing and substantially more compensation.

If you have experience as Executive Chef, i would recommend to apply at hotels in Bavaro-Punta Cana, salary should be around 3500-4500 US per month, and live in.

Tamborita, in hotels minimum wage is about 6K pesos, with the propina legal and good occupancy, even a cleaner makes 8-9 a month. So it all depends where to work, size of hotel, location etc., but a dominican executive chef, not a cook, is making anything from 50to 150k.

I think it will not be a good idea to move here for working, things are really difficult, I recommend you to think about it.
