I'm reading Junot Diaz's The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. He uses the word "jiringonza." Can someone help me with a translation?

See previous thread with explanation of words in the book-

I think it's potentially hard to understand out of context. I have the book waiting on the shelf to be read whenever. However, the google book sample happens to have that page where the word is used as an available page. Without a context leaves the word open to interpretation and possibly an incorrect translation.

see page 235.

This previous thread on DR1 about some expressions and words in the book should be helpful to you. Jiringonza is included. See posts # 2, #6 and #8.

I think it means hipodermic needle; as in drug use.

The word in Spanish for hypodermic syringe is jeringa. I needed to know that when I was prescribed injections of heparin after my accident in Puerto Plata.
