I've just run out of a case of this stuff due to gifts and general consumption...

I start back teaching in a week.

The thought of not having this beverage before and after school every day makes me feel faint.

I think I know a man to pick the stuff up for me, even if he is a curmudgeon, but is anyone willing to bring it back to the US and send it up to Maine? Like...this month. So I can survive.

PM me --I know this is asking a lot.

And I don't need hand deliveries, thanks :) Unless you are my neighbor, of course. I will reimburse postage.

I can bring all the Monte Alto you want to Hillbilly this week. PM me with your needs.

FWIW: for Norte Americanos, within 1-2 months we will have distribution of Monte Alto in the states, online, delivered to your door. Additionally, Lord willing and the creek don't rise, you may be able to purchase it in Publix supermarkets around Florida.

This is not only the Monte Alto Especial and Organic, but French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Mocha and Cinnamon.

However the brand name "Monte Alto" cannot be used because of trademark infringement in the states. It will be under a different name, but will be the same exact coffee.

When the website is launched I will let you know.

Let's set up the DR1 pipeline-

If anyone is flying from Santiago to NYC and can pick up the goods, you can drop it off to me (or I can go pick the stuff up anywhere in the NYC area, maybe New Jersey depending), I can then send it up to Maine.

Easy Breezy.

Monte Alto coffee disappeared from the Supermercado Nacional in Santo Trafficjam months ago.

The manager of the store on M?ximo G?mez has no idea what's up. He says buying decisions are made at the central office.

great news CB!

Let us know when it is available!!

I only like the organic. And for anyone interested, go to the factory and sit in their giftshop. That is where I bought my case of organic. It is Hermanos Ramirez in Jarabacoa.

I used to buy it in large amounts when we lived in SD - for own consumption and to take home as gifts. Haven't been able to find it since we moved to the far east 2 years ago, and when I've looked for it in the supermarkets (Nacional, Cadena, Pola) during visits to SD it's never been available. :(

One reason there is less this year is because of the coffee harvest. This was not a large one and was 95% sold out before the harvest even began.

And remember: Monte Alto ONLY uses the prime, best beans, period. The rest they sell to...well...others. Additionally, 90% of their production is green bean export to Italy, Germany and Japan.

They take care of those customers before they roast for the domestic market. And even then the large coffee producers use heavy fisted tactics with retailers to maintain their 95+% market share.

But I found out yesterday the current harvest will be not only possibly twice as large as last year, but the quality is superb. Last year the rains came early and damaged the flowers. This year the rains came after the flowers had produced bean buds. And the large amount of rain we've received has really helped the buds plump up.

If we can figure out distribution, I can get folks in the DR all the Monte Alto you want, special order and run. Possibly by Caribe Tours?

What say you?

Can I pick it up at the factory coffee store?
