The first Krispy Kreme doughnuts store in Santo Domingo is set for an opening next week on Winston Churchill Avenue, next door to Burger King. In Latin America, the franchise has stores in Mexico and Puerto Rico, in addition to its many stores in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

It's a big store, took a look at it yesterday. It's next door to the Banco Popular main building on Churchill. Looks like it's set to open Tues/Wed next week.

Get fat people! :)

Do you know if they will actually make the doughtnuts at this location? In Miami all the doughnuts are made in the store on 163rd ST. You can actually see them on the assembly line. Also you can buy them hot off the line.

It's a big store, so I'm guessing they will make them in house, but I wil let you know when I next go and buy some :)

They have been going round Santo Domingo the past week to many businesses giving out boxes and boxes of donuts.

I have never seen a DR business pre-sell like this, so it makes a nice change to see some people actual "get it".

I wonder if they'll serve these:

The World?s Unhealthiest Burger? - CBS News

And if they aren't making the donuts there on-site, it's barely worth the calories...unless you buy them hot off the line, they aren't nearly as good...night and day from the boxed version...that being said, 8 seconds in the microwave does wonders for a non-fresh Krispy Kreme original glazed...mmmmm... :bunny:

If they can sell them at a price close to what they cost in the US, they might have a chance down there. They are $3-$4 a dozen in the US compared to Dunkin' Donuts which are about a buck each.

I wonder how a churro stand would do down there...

There is a company that sells churros in Santo Domingo with branches in supermarkets and malls. Their churros are not quite what you get in Spain, although I have been known to enjoy their nutella special. They also sell crepes.

production is in fact on the spot. had a taste last week, and equally as delicious as ones in Canada.

i would assume they will supply supermarkets/gas stations eventually as it goes along with krispy kremes business model.
