My home maker who also works for an elderly (married) Cuban expat living in "La Estancia" (opposite to Playa Dorada), told me today that they have been assaulted in their home on Wednesday around 5PM. They got taped up, beaten quite brutally, asked for the keys to the Jeepeta and access to the safe at gunpoint. They survived!
Two of the men where "masked", but they claim to have recognized one.
Apparently they had left the door to the pool open while they went for a nap.
So the thieves made it over the reportedly quite high fence into the property.
I know it's HOT and sweaty and most of us refuse to pay hundreds of Dollars for A/C... but folks, KEEP YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS PROTECTED (steel bars/gates) at ALL TIMES!
Safety is a routine which does not allow for exceptions. Thieves thrive on opportunity.
