We did see several guaguas in various states of disrepair headed that way...we went by car. There is a Caribe tours office in Barahona, you may want to check with them.

One thing to be aware of is that many of these guaguas appear to be subject to searches by military personnel along the road bu this may be more of an issue in the opposite direction.

Done it a couple of times.

Early Caribe Tour Bus from Santo Domingo to Barahona - then walk down into town. Guaguas leave from the centre - just need to asks around.

Thanks for the info. Going to stay in Barahona for a day or 2 then head to Pedernales for a day or 2. Im heading out alone for an adventure. Now I need to find a really cheap hotel or room to rent in Pedernales. Looking for a room in someones house.

We didnt stay in Pedernales but recall a sign indicating some lodging called Dona Chava....in the event you are unable to locate a room for rent.

Enjoy!

there are also guaguas that leave regularly from Duarte con Paris

but if you are going to Barahona first, then take Caribe Tours

otherwise the direct guagua is better since you would have to board it anyway from Barahona to Pedernales and if you get on in SD, you will have a seat.

dona chava phone number is 809 524 0332
