If I buy a Claro or Orange phone while I am visiting Punta Cana at Christmas, can I add Peso's to it on the internet, as I hear minutes are only good for 30 days. I am in the Dominican every few months, so I am looking for a way to keep a phone active while out of Country. I visit all parts of the Island so I can't just leave it with a friend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what happends to your US number while using a DR SIM card?

One silly question, If I travel from NY to DR (currently use Verizon-Droid 2 global) and once in DR I buy a local SIM and I get assigned a local number, what happens to my Verizon US phone number? If someone in the US calls my US number, will I still receive the call or will it go to voice mail?
