Default Drinking, driving, noshing in the DR

Hi, all. First time poster here. Great forum. My wife and I will be in the DR next week and I have three questions:

    1. We're renting a car in Santiago and spending one night in Rio San Juan and the remainder of our trip in Cabarete. Does anyone know of any current strikes or brewing problems such as in Licey awhile back that would impact our drive to the coast?

    2. Is Mofongo King in Sosua still in business? If not, any place that serves mofongo that's closer than PR?

    3. Do any restaurants in Cabarete serve mamajuana as an aperitif? Or serve it at all? Had it years ago during one of the best meals I've ever had.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mofongo King on the beach in Sosua is still open, and just about every restaurant in Cabarete serves mamajuana...
