I think it is pretty simplistic... what you guys in Neuva Yol are doing...
ok.. better than reggeton... but

perhaps you should come back to the Island and get in touch with what is really going on here musically

Weird languages and musical Rhythms that I've never heard before in DR.

Every thing is changing in my country.

admittedly not bachata! but not reggeton, either.

How about this one

Luis Dias, most Dominicans know him... no a successful artist but he have been orchestrating the classy people events for long time.

Frank thanks for the videos I specially enjoyed the second one. Young adults and teenagers need to hear this song.

I love that first video by the way. Very artistic, the music and videographer.

I'm afraid most of the music out there which fuses Dominican Folklore tends to go the way of rock. A great example is El Terror and Xiomara. What I've seen though is that this type of music has not reached out to the "average" Dominican youth. Dominican rock and its fusions have come a long way and I personally enjoy some Toque Profundo, Rita or the classic Tabutek but its not as "universal" as bachata or reggaeton among the Dominican youth.

Hey I hope to see you out there to hang out for a drink or a jam. Im mostly in La Vega and Nagua though but I have friends and mentors in the capital.

Thank you MM. I think it is important to bring alternative sounds to the Dominican youth and population as a whole, in addition to what is already out there and if this alternative is rooted in Dominican roots music then all the better.

Seems to me that the two videos from NY are more merengue based whereas the stuff from Santo Domingo (Luis D?az, Aumbata, etc.) is more Afro-Antillean roots.

Hey frank,is your family original from Moca??? Just wondering if we are from the same family.

JJ

Maybe a far connection. My family has lived in Santiago's countryside for at least 4 generations. Campesinos con orgullo, de pueblos como Juncalito, Jagua, y Ricon Largo.
