anyone know what the numbers mean that they write on your customs sheet when you are returning to the u.s. and clearing customs?
they wrote a 8 on the top and a 1 with a circle around it in the middle.
1st. time in my life and 5 yrs. going to D.R. i had a problem clearing customs.i had to follow the red line and they really gave me a hard time or is anyone else feeling the same?i been in D.R. since march went home for work in august for a month then returned in sept. for another 3 months.just got back to chicago on thursday.they asked if i was a felon and why i just had a hand bag.which i replied i am on vacation visiting my wife and kids in D.R. and i give my clothes to the poor when i leave.and i been arrested for a d.u.i. once.they really didnt want to believe it.but it's the truth!

You apparantly triggered their attention without luggage, I have no idea what you look like, but you were obviously profiled. They can see your DUI on the screen.

I was called in once in 15 years, they kept asking how can I afford to travel so often, what is my business, why do I travel to DR so often? I told them politely to pi$$ off. Don't sweat it. Who knows, maybe they saw you on dr1 asking about the benefits of two passports!!!

keep your answers to one word, yes, no. do not offer nor volunteer any information. they like to say they stop pepe at random but who knows. I got stopped by Customs coming back through JFK last month. They asked m wherre I worked and I said television but they wanted me to be more specific. Why bother? You wuldnt understand it. They asked me if I had money in my bag and did I bring a laptop and was this the 1st time I ve been to Santiago.

When asked why did you travel with one handbag you should have asked "How many bags should I travel with?"

I was stoppped in PR back in 1999 by Customs but it was the agents fault. She asked me if my passport was "wait". I said what? She said is it "wait". I said I dont know, she said I dont know either. Then I had to see another agent who ran it through the system and he asked me if I was carrying more than $10K. I told him that btch need to work on her english, I dont know what "wait" is but I know what "wet" is. Is your passport wet? Sounds nothing like is your passport wait?

i went through screening in ft. lauderdale, x -ray, shoes off etc. the officer asks me "what's in the case"? i said "violin", he then called all his buddies over to see my fiddle in the x-ray machine, said he'd been there 12 years and had never seen anyone carry on a violin. i know i'm a bit different but what planet was this guy from? anyway, i never have anything to worry about so if they want to sell me a timeshare i've got all the time in the world.

In reality, its a diffuclt, boring job at Immigration and Customs...... I just try to engage them in a bit of give and take to lighten the load

Being casual and exuding nonchalance can soften the trip for everybody..

Of course, I'm a bad liar - so they'd snag me in a second if I lemons, or somehting like that:paranoid:

Too little baggage they will stop you or Too much baggage they will stop you.

This last trip the immigration agent told me to put down that I live in the USA / DR and they won't ask me about being out of the country so long next time.

When they write a 1 and circle it they screen you they think you are a drug dealer or mule and ask a bunch of questions ,who do you work for, where did you stay hotel or off resort , it is expensive to go to dr how can you go so often, I go twice a year I also carry my cpap unit (sleep apneia) and the custom agent / E.N.T specialist has the balls to I dont have sleep apneia while checking my funky drawers I replied if you are a doctor why are you checking my funky drawers times that hard ,DR funky drawers say's have a nice day.Happend in april and november by same jerk.F@#ker need to get a life

Next time, write down the agent's name and send a nice little not to homeland security. Believe it or not, it works. With them getting so much heat about TSA agents being jerks, the letters actually make a difference. And the agents start getting nervous if they see you writing their names down - and if you ask for badge number, it is even better.

Hopeless

Well ...I guess I'm goosed...

Will arrive with nothing but a dog next Saturday to el Catey

No nothing ... just me and what i wear

Of course, I will have a car and a man waiting for me .... but they won't know that at Immigration

Always remove the sunglasses as a friendly gesture:surprised
