Hello, I'm Jimmy
I'm studying design at the Otago University in New Zealand and i'm currently researching disaster relief shelters, I was wondering if you guys had experiences within one of these facilities, or could share your ideas to what problems you would encounter within a shelter. For example in Gaza they talk about how the basic triangular shape design is insufficient and does not include flooring, or annexes to shelter them properly. Another example is many shelter solutions do not provide elevation off the ground to avoid terrain problems, I hope someone can help! thanks for your time :)

Welcome to the forum.

May I suggest you try the "Search" tab above to see some of the issues that have already been discussed.

In addition to the technical issues you mentioned, a significant issue for shelters in Haiti seems to be security.

And my understanding is that, with government records destroyed, building shelters becomes problematic because no one knows who owns the land.

Good luck on your project.
