Just found out that there was a Hard Rock casino in Punta Cana. Trying to find out its location and distance from the Ocean Blue property as well as any other bits of info.
-How would be the best way to get there? Shuttles? If cab, approximate cost?
-Is the hotel open? Are guests admitted free to casino? What about cost, if any, to the public?
- Any reciprocal agreements on entry with other resort properties?
- Are drinks free to players like in Las Vegas? Hotel guests only?
- Any guess as to the ratio of locals to tourists?
Any other information/suggestions/advice you could supply would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The hard rock hotel is on the northern end of Bavaro it used to be called the Moon Palace resort. The casino is very nice and it has the largest sports book in the Caribean. Drinks are free in the casino and sports book. In my opinion if your on the east coast of DR this is the only place to gamble. I would rank it as about the same as the Jaragua casino in capital but the sports book is by far the best in the DR. Very similar to an Atlantic city or Las Vegas Sports book. Very profesionally run operation.

- From the Ocean Blue Hotel to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino you can go by taxi (Approx. US$ 25)
- Yes, the hotel is open and admittance to the casino is free (bring your passport)
- Drinks are free for all players, not only hotel guests.
- Almost no locals...the HRH&C "prefers" tourists.
- Have a good time; I am sure you will! Enjoy!!!!

I'll be in Punta Cana next month also and was wondering a lot of the same questions, thanks for the info.

Also, is the casino 24 hours or just the usual open in the evening and close in the morning that most casinos in Punta Cana are?

And is the night club open to non-resort guests?

Thanks in advance.

The Casino and Sportsbook open at 10AM and close at 2AM. When very busy the Casino will stay open until 3AM. Table games in the Casino open at 4PM. Slots are open at 10AM. The Sportsbook closes when the last game starts.

Drinks are free for everyone gambling, even if you are not staying in the hotel. If you are not a guest of the hotel you get a white band and you can only stay in the Casino area. There is a Deli in the Sportsbook that you can eat at.

If you want to use all the facilities without getting a room you can get a day pass for $89. That is good 7AM till 11PM in every restaurant and bar in the hotel.

Excellent information. Thank you so much. You all have been extremely helpful. Great news on the free drinks. Sounds like it offers much of what a typical Vegas casino would.
Don't think I trust playing the slots but have a question for any blackjack players out there who have played at the Hard Rock - what are the table rules? I am assuming that it is a 3:2 game and have not imported the 6:5 game now played in the Vegas party pits. What about rules on splits, doubling down (including after splits), re-splitting aces, dealer hitting on soft 17's, etc.?
Also, what is the legal gambling age?
Thanks again. We are looking forward to hitting the HR in March!

The rules are 3-2 on BJ, you can split anything up to 3 times, you can double after split. They hit soft 17, no re-splitting aces. Legal age to gamble is 18.

Can anyone say what the betting limits are at the Hard Rock? When I was in Punta Cana last the limits at several casinos were usually no more than $100 per bet for BJ and some only allowed a max of $50 per bet.

Thanks.

Max bet at the Hard Rock are $500 in the regular pits and $2,000 US in the high limit room. You can ask for more if you wish also.
