I have entered Las Americas Airport on a one way ticket from American Airlines so why do people keep posting that you need a round trip ticket. I enter the Dominican Republic on merely the 25$ tourist pass. I have no legal residence in the Dominican Republic but I enter on a one way airplane ticket with no problems from customs/immigration. American Airlines has never forced me to purchase a round trip ticket.

good for you, can i have your autograph

the problem is not arriving with the one way ticket its leaving from the original destination. where were you flying from? i wasnt allowed to board in new york on american airlines and had to buy a return

i have no problem with people only having a one way ticket as long as they are prepared for what could happen

I fly out of Miami International Airport. Maybe American Airlines will make me purchase a round trip ticket next time. I usually purchase my ticket from their website so I can pick my airplane seat, time of day to fly, and date.

What 25$ tourist pass is this?

It is the $20 bucks you pay before you go through Dominican customs/immigration. You are suppose to keep the card with you while you travel in the country but they take it from you right before you go to the booth to swipe your passport. I never quite figured out why they did that.

Oh, OK....... you had me confused because first you said it was $25 and now you say it is $20 when I thought the actual cost of a tourist card was $10. I guess one lives and learns.

Where can I sign up for you Fan Club? The deal is you got lucky but more times than not AA won't let you board unless you have a return ticket as well.

O well you got over on the "one-way" ticket, but got ripped-off on the tourist card- it's $10 USD or 10 Euros.

And you don't have to carry the card around, it's "expended" right at the airport. I quess it keeps the card from being "re-sold".

It probably was $10 USA money. But, when you are as rich as I am, who is counting.;)

I have flown from MIA, FLL and JFK and they always ask me for evidence of my residence. Even when I am flying with my dear Dominican wife...

So it might be a lottery.

Rice,

Is the bottom one a picture of you? I always imagined you differently.

To the OP:
You're a lucky man. Which makes me imagine you as being rich from gambling. The next time you go to the casino to shoot craps, please let me know.

8 flights into POP via MIA and AA has always checked my return bookings. You must have more money then most, as I aways believed a one way international was more expensive then a round trip ticket on AA when it came time to purchase the return.

In the past, that was the case. But purchasing via aa.com is different.

The OP may also be traveling first class, if he has as much money as he says he does, or is on a full fare coach seat. Either way, the airline may well be less stringent with him than those of us who fly on the best possible monetary deal.
