These folks just opened an office in Jarabacoa. Stopped in and found they work similar to EPS and Business Mail, but charge only RD$145lb. to ship from Miami. That's a savings.

Who can offeer feedback about these guys (yes, I know they are a subsidiary of a big Dominican company.)

i often use it to buy stuff and bring down to DR, if it is not too heavy then is cool but they also charge for transportation - to san pedro- and that usually put the price litle up. u can have an account with them which is free, u only need to pay when u use it, so try it it works for some stuff... they never lost any of my packages but one time i had a very small box and they charged me around 2000.00dop cause i forgot to put the casillero # and they had to "find" and "handle with care"... but overall is not so bad.

I've used them for years in Santiago.
Whom have you used for years in Santiago Chip?

This thread has been talking about at least 3 different shippers.

I have used TransExpress for a couple of years on the north coast. It does seem that their prices have recently gone up. I have never had a problem receiving items sent with them. They are much faster than EPS. Setting up an account to receive packages is free, so you can try them and compare.

I'm pleased with TransExpress and Vimenca. Most times it clears their Florida location the same day it arrives, and then two days later is in Sosua. They notify you via email so you can track the package; and they automatically bill my Amex card so I don't have to pay on this end. They are available with an 800 number to talk, help, and advise. I once had an issue with something in my carton - I called it bug spray - they said it was hazardous material and was held up. I called and it was my error in the description, and the woman walked it through for me no problem.

Yes, their prices have gone up, but their service is worth it until something else shows up as consistent and less expensive.

Unlike you Don who does everything possible to make me look bad here on the forums my good friend Robert no doubt understood my post.

I asked a very simple question Chip, from your post, I am not able to understand which shipper you are using.

How is that making you look bad?

You are the one that made the ambiguous post, not me, I only asked for clarification.

am?big?u?ous/amˈbigyo͞oəs/Adjective
1. (of language) Open to more than one interpretation; having a double meaning.
2. Unclear or inexact because a choice between alternatives has not been made.

Business Mail - Shipping Charges

0-30 lbs - $2.50 per pound

31-49 lbs - $1.50 per pound

50-69 lbs - $1.25 per pound

70-and more lbs - $0.99 per pound

What I am not sure of in my calculations is if you use all 4 rates consecutively if you say ship in 75 lbs.

So Robert, tell us, which shipper is Chip using?

I just have never learned to "read between the lines"............

I am using Vimenpaq now for 4 months here in Bavaro and they are less expensive as EPS and have better organized service.

The only problem, but that is regardless using Vimenpaq, EPS or any other company, is customs. How many times they removed the invoices out of the package and then tried to scam me with much higher values. They always try and I am sure with a lot of people they succeed!

E.P.S. - Shipping Charges

1-2.99 lbs - $4.75 per pound

3-4.99 lbs - $4.50 per pound

5-9.99 lbs - $4.10 per pound

10-14.99 lbs - $3.65 per pound

15-19.99 lbs - $3.35 per pound

20-49.99 lbs - 3.00 per pound

50-99.99 lbs - 2.80 per pound

100-199.99 lbs - $2.50 per pound

200-499.99 lbs - $1.90 per pound

500 + lbs - $1.60 per pound

What I am not sure of in my calculations is if the rates are used consecutively if you say ship in 75 lbs.

Again these rates are for the weight of the package only, does not include tariffs, fuel charges, etc.

Now I just got in a one (1) pound package via Business Mail.

I have to see if they do money exchange.

That $2.50 charge for one pound of weight was charged to me at an exchange rate of 37.95 pesos per 1 U.S. Dollar.

That?s roughly 25/30 centavos higher then I get at the Exchange House.

In this country, if there?s a way to rip you off they will find it!

I have to make a rectification: Since 4 days I am fighting with them and they do not (want to) understand; they are charging me import-duties for an article with a real value of US$ 193.99. Their last "act" was talking about a different currency-rate; they don't know that Banco Leon charges more than the normal currency-rate.
After this, it is BACK to EPS!!!! Maybe more expensive but with at least excellent problem-solving service!
Better pay some more than have to go through this unbelievable mess!

The person in charge of Vimenpaq can't do anything and doesn't want to do anything!
EPS here I come!!

So the article arrived yesterday (RD$ 4,545 for 24pounds) and....

....damaged beyond repair!

This company is the worst of the worst!!
Of course nobody knew what to do and they send the package back to Santo Domingo and told me to talk to "them": case closed!

So, after losing US$ 194 plus about US$ 85 for import-duties, I have nothing!

If anybody is considering this company; forget it!
They make enough money with the "money-shipping" business and don't give a **** about anybody!!!!
