correct me if im wrong ,but i believe this applies to all new developments as well. projects such as costa del sol and marbella in juan dolio

This applies only to certain projects in certain areas. It is based on a tax incentive law for developers that is not as widely given now as it was in the past. Any project who's units qualify for the tax exemption will promote that heavily. Make sure you confirm it with your attorney prior to purchasing, if that is a major factor in your purchasing decision.

Dominicaln property tax is 1% yearly. However, you will only pay for the amount exceeding five millions. I.e. if your house is assessed to seven million Pesos, you will pay 20,000 Pesos a year. You will also be exempted from paying property tax after having paid for a certain amount of years, I think it's 15. Try and Google Dominican Property Tax, and you can read the whole thing.
