Hola a todos! I new in this forum.I have a question. We looking for a good place to live in Sos?a, what do you think about Playa Ciquita? It is safe and quiet enough?

Playa Chiquita is not a gated community and everyone has their own way(s) of securing their properties. Some places use a guard service, some have their own guards and many have live in help that can be a deterrent. Of course, many of the guards are in on what does happen in the area and very few would interfer with a robbery next to them. There are some squatters living in the old hotel across from the Playa Chiquita casino and another group at the other end of the neighborhood. Those that live here watch them as much as they watch us.

Being a multi-national community it appears that everyone is security minded and keeps an eye on what is going on. On the other hand, most that live here keep to themselves.

That said, I think that we are “safer” then many other areas. With the Ocean on two sides and the gated Sosua Ocean Village on another helps limit the amount of people in the area with only one main street to use but still several others ways to get in and out on foot or moto. Yes we do have some crime but most is crime of opportunity.

The amount of dogs that just about everyone has is an alarm for most. Our electricity is 24/7 that keeps the lights and security systems on including many street lights. Yes, the power does go off about twice a week from 10 minutes to 8 hours so an inverter system is handy. Other then a hotel or two and the Casino we have no bars, stores or activities that others are interested in so we don’t have a lot of people hanging around and the area is quiet.

My best advice would be to drive and walk around the area and talk to those the live here (IF you can see anyone) and work here. Many of the gardeners in the area have been here for years.

Please feel free to PM me if you have specific questions. Ringo 10 + years in Playa Chiquita.
