Power went off for us in Cabarete last night around 9 PM after only being on for a short time. It appears to be a general blackout affecting those east of Cabarete as well and it is still without power at 8 AM. Edenorte says they are "working on it". Does anyone know the reason?

Black out in Cabarete right now - Any news about it?

I am pretty sure it was related to the lightening storm last night. We had many hits of lightening and things blew up near the power plant, but I don't know what it was. I was told by friends east of here the electric went out last night there too, not sure they are back up either.
Power went off yesterday in the El Choco area in the evening around 9:30, had some glitches to came back on a few times but remained off and came back on in the early morning (not sure when, was in bed), was off again for half an hour between 6am and 9 am but is stable now again.
It went off in Cofresi also, but we are hooked on adjacent hotel generator so was only off a few mins.

FYI we had no power from 9pm to 8 or so in the morning.

I can only guess that someone else reported the problem or it would be the first time they ever showed up without being hounded.
