Taxes Agency goes from artisan to full Web

Santo Domingo.- In the last five years the Internal Taxes Agency went from 0% Web transactions and no payment in the banking network, to 85% of the statements filed via Internet, and to receiving more than 70% of the revenue through the banking network.

DGII director Juan Hernandez made the revelation Wednesday, and stressed the agency?s modernization, calling ?historical? the evolution from an artisan organization of 1996, to a totally modern and transparent entity with extraordinary technology in 2011.

?Few by now remember that in 1996 the DGII had 60 computers used mostly as typewriters to transcribe information and to process some data, and the issuing of registrations was barely done using computers,? the official said to inaugurate the DGII?s new Web Office.

Another thing I told you a while ago here in DR1 about... All major roads in the DR to be put into private hands and tolled, but within a framework where the roads are kept and upgraded to international standards.
No more burros, horses, people, etc... in the travel lanes or safety lanes... No more potholes in the middle of a 100km/h+ lanes.... A new highway police outfit to keep speeders and law breakers in check... Road rangers for disabled/distressed vehicle/drivers... Cameras on dangerous road's curves/hills with digital panels that will warn motorists to slow down or change lanes for safety... Proper road signals and speed controls... Helivac for serious injured in accidents... Mandated right lane transiting for trucks and heavy vehicles... Truck's weigh/inspection check points... Regulations on what type of motorbikes can be used on the highways, by engine cc's...

By 2016 all tax related data and related filings will be made "only" online... By 2020 paper and metallic money will be pulled from the Dominican Republic's financial model, the E-RD$Peso will be the only thing available...

No more analog signals over the air, for radio or TV... Soon!

The DR gov is "negotiating" with a South Korean/Taiwanese team in order to bring ultra broadband internet to all nooks and crannies of the DR... Free internet on all schools, universities, hospitals and gov buildings...

Once the DR and India reach an accord, which will enable the DR's first vehicle *compact* manufacturing in the country, a ban will put into effect on all imports of motorcycles and a phase by phase on spare parts. Only certain motorbikes will be allowed to remain and continue to have parts imported for sales. The insurance premiums on motorbikes will be equal to cars on that respect...

All those wonderful advancements without improving the education system. Misplaced priorities, or easier to steal money off giant construction project contracts. Got to be some giant kickbacks.

I thought we were supposed to have emoney here last year ????

Maybe it's because of lack of funding because the DEA agents diverted all the cash flow from the DR gov't to GW Bush's and Bin Ladin's retirement accounts????

Elecrticity to go up by another 8% in price - there is a change for you.

And to add insult to injury with the deplorable electrical supply system in the DR, the price will be jacked up another 8% starting in June.

Perfect timing!!!

And timed perfectly to coordinate with the government mandated 17% increase in the minimum wage.

cashless society is the type of thing McDonalds will love, large grocery chains as well. it will wipe out street vendors of all types, no more 5 pesos bags of peanuts, no more "gomeros" who'll fix a flat tire for 200 pesos, you'll have to go to the fancy repair shop and pay triple. i would love to get around without cash just to reduce the threat of getting mugged but how am i to pay for a shoe shine?

By simply using your cell phone to approve the charges! That simple!

The thing is that not being legal in the DR will be next to impossible to even phantom, once all that behind the wall stuff goes into play. Whilst the US struggles with the national ID, in the DR we already have it! Wait till you see the new ID to roll out in the DR!!!

The taxman will be there for each and every transaction! Each movement of E-money will entail a fee based on the reigning tax for that level of commerce.

We're working on that end! Soon to roll out the new educational model in the DR! Teachers being trained as we chat here!

Looking forward to watching an 80 year old guy in the campo with his cell phone trying to pay for his bag of rice at the local colmado.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small

Sigh, indeed. One of the joys of the DR is a higher degree of freedom from some of these...

Where was that timeline posted?

Here's some timelines for you, posted 11-13-2009:

Wait and see next year as even your corner Colmado sports a new register with an incorporated fiscal printer!!!

....Print and save this post for future reference and comparisons to the actual way things get done at that time!

... Now you'll see a lot stuff getting done much faster about everywhere in the DR, Santiago included with park and loop!
