Taxes Agency goes from artisan to full Web
Santo Domingo.- In the last five years the Internal Taxes Agency went from 0% Web transactions and no payment in the banking network, to 85% of the statements filed via Internet, and to receiving more than 70% of the revenue through the banking network.
DGII director Juan Hernandez made the revelation Wednesday, and stressed the agency?s modernization, calling ?historical? the evolution from an artisan organization of 1996, to a totally modern and transparent entity with extraordinary technology in 2011.
?Few by now remember that in 1996 the DGII had 60 computers used mostly as typewriters to transcribe information and to process some data, and the issuing of registrations was barely done using computers,? the official said to inaugurate the DGII?s new Web Office.

No more burros, horses, people, etc... in the travel lanes or safety lanes... No more potholes in the middle of a 100km/h+ lanes.... A new highway police outfit to keep speeders and law breakers in check... Road rangers for disabled/distressed vehicle/drivers... Cameras on dangerous road's curves/hills with digital panels that will warn motorists to slow down or change lanes for safety... Proper road signals and speed controls... Helivac for serious injured in accidents... Mandated right lane transiting for trucks and heavy vehicles... Truck's weigh/inspection check points... Regulations on what type of motorbikes can be used on the highways, by engine cc's...
By 2016 all tax related data and related filings will be made "only" online... By 2020 paper and metallic money will be pulled from the Dominican Republic's financial model, the E-RD$Peso will be the only thing available...
No more analog signals over the air, for radio or TV... Soon!
The DR gov is "negotiating" with a South Korean/Taiwanese team in order to bring ultra broadband internet to all nooks and crannies of the DR... Free internet on all schools, universities, hospitals and gov buildings...
Once the DR and India reach an accord, which will enable the DR's first vehicle *compact* manufacturing in the country, a ban will put into effect on all imports of motorcycles and a phase by phase on spare parts. Only certain motorbikes will be allowed to remain and continue to have parts imported for sales. The insurance premiums on motorbikes will be equal to cars on that respect...
