I have been in SD for about 3 weeks. I will be here for about 10 more days. Next, I'm going to Santiago for about 10 days.

I've had a hard time hanging out at night. I don't know where to go. I'm also by myself. Some ppl say just walk around etc, but I think thats reckless, especially since I don't speak much spanish (I am taking spanish classes all next week btw).

I'm looking to find a place without shady characters (I don't mind ppl of all backgrounds, but don't want to feel really uncomfortable). I would like to relax , have a beer or 2, maybe chat it up with a lady or 2, and get home at a reasonable time. I'd love to meet a few positive ppl to go with, because unfortunately I'm traveling alone at the moment.

I have been around calle condo when I stayed in Zona Colonial in April. Now I am in Gazcue. Saturday night I went to one of the casinos/clubs on Independencia? with a Dominican friend (I know his sister in Philly).

I just received a reccomendation to go to
Onno's, La Espiral, and the Irish bar is called O'Briens. I've also received a recommendation to go to La Espira. I believe they are off calle condo, I believe.

good luck and hope you enjoy yourself but I have less knowledge than you. Judging by many post's, wherever you go at night be damn careful.

I actually don't drink much, so coffee is fine (well a cinnamon bun bc I dont drink coffee ') )

I actually want to take some DR cigars back home. I have PR cigars, and the only thing I can think to bring back from here is cigars or liquor (I dont want to bring back something from the DR souvenir shop that says made in China ha)

And yes, since Im by myself Im not that interested in hanging out in a public place by myself, to start. I might start off somewhere early (7-8 pm) and if I dont get a good vibe or don't find a cute girl (or non shady person) to talk to then bounce by 9 or 10 pm. I also might check out one of the casino/clubs since that's pretty well lit up and easy to find the taxi

Well I used to say that too....haha until one day...........

Cigars are certainly doable, as is the coffee cake.

I'm 31 Damyan.

I think La Espiral and Onnos sound like my best matches. I've seen the Hard Rock and it seemed like a sit down restaurant type place (as compared to a place to chat it up). I've never went inside to HRC to see if there is an inside bar, though
