I am trying to get my daughter back from London to NYC or PHL at the end of October.... one way.

I'm getting $800 US at best !!!!!!!!!1

Have trans-Atlantic fares exploded that much ????

She got to POP in April $1100US..... Return

Thank goodness this is 'homecoming' flight........... I'm outta money !!!..:disappoin

I assume you tried mulitple web sites. Did you try Icelandic Air?

On cheapoair.com I found Iberia Airlines, Heathrow to JFK on 10/26 for $482 including tax. It has short layover in Madrid CheapOair - Save on Cheap Flights, Cheap Airfares, Cheap Tickets
I tried other dates, weekdays seemed cheapest.

Yes, I tried the search engine but I find that the specific websites offer better than the search engines

I'm working the weekdays.... always do... Tuesday to Thursday... always cheaper

Thanks, but I perefer the direct flights

Price just seems whacky..... I'll wait & see

flights prices are just stupid these days. I've paid, $1600 to Alicante, glad I'm not going to be returning much, getting priced out of my range, and certainly for what the DR has to offer we have much more, much closer, much cheaper with better weather.

the cheapest direct is Virgin Atlantic for 850 USD, but you should buy round trip for this fare.

I found the answer...

Continental has started allowing 'one way travel' on reward points so I got her London to PHL for 30,000 points and $190 fees.

CO allows you use any of the Star Alliance group and USAir is one of them.

Best price I found was 600pounds...... $$$$$
