I was informed by a person who should know that our Dominican expats in the states have the highest per capita crime rate among all immigrant groups, and the highest index of frauds committed per capita. They are even better at this than the Cubans when it comes to exploiting the system.

Even I know at least three cases of massive fraud carried out by Dominicans, but hearsay is not admissible..One went to the states for a week, filed for welfare and received close US$800 a month for the rest of his life, here in Los Jardines in Santiago, with direct deposit!
Another earned really good money in a mob restaurant in Little Italy and his wife received over a $1000 a month (back 35 years ago!) because here "Husband abandoned her!" ....they had to be careful that he was never there when Social Services came to check up on things.
Another case was a guy who got to the states, married his former wife again, worked hard, bought two bodegas, sold booze, DR Lottery tickets (and one of the bodegas was next to a precinct house!),and of course, dealt in "cupones" (Food Stamps), and made millions...never caught and got out in time to retire and enjoy his riches.

Care to show us the link to support that bold statement?

As far as per capita on crime rates within immigrant groups by nationality, the Dominican born residents in the USA are by far NOT leading on anything relating to crime statistics on any major city or nation wide, as numbers offered by the United States of America's own count...

It will be interesting to read that NEW development as your post indicates...

So... How many victims of kidnapping are murdered each year in the DR CCCCCC, for you to support that "predictor of future behavior,is past behavior" statement???

Well I do know as a fact that Dominicans are not very welcome here in Panama and you see that by entering the country. Any foreigner has to show that he has at least $500,-. For a Dominican it's $1000,-.
Is it because of their good reputation?;)

I have been countless times to Panama and NEVER been asked to produce financial support for my entry or stay in their country! As far as Dominicans needing to produce $1,000 or double of anything other foreigners must show, my first time hearing of that in any place other than you...

It's a first time for everything isn't it? Call the embassy in the DR they'll tell you if you don't believe me.

Could it be that you were hiding your true identity behind an American passport?

Sounds strange to me. My wife, a few years ago was asked to show $500 when we arrove. She being a Colombiana. When I said she was with me, a gringo, it was OK. She became angry with the Panamaniacs for discrimination. She didn't want to be an extension of a gringo. She has long since gone back to her Mommy in Colombia, but still writes and asks for a few dollars cada vez en cuando.
But $1,000? I doubt it! For anyone.
Der Fish

It might be strange but it's true. In Paso Canoa and Guavito the border crossings with Costa Rica they even have it posted on the wall!!
Again for non believers ask the Panamanian embassy in the DR.

And as a matter of fact, my last passport was issued to me from the Miami consulate of the DR as I was denied boarding at Orlando's MCO to the DR using my just expired DR passport. And just for kicks my passport before that was issued by the consulate in Panama of all places as my car was broken into and my documents stolen. The Police retrieved my passport and other documents during a raid, but they had tried to mess with it and was useless for travel.

Dominicans DO need a visa to travel to Panama as a requirement from the US gov for the halting of those routes for human trafficking networks from the DR. The financial solvency is carried out on a "check point" need from the trained security at Panama. That's to say they only carry those out with people they feel fit the profile of a non tourist from the DR or other high human trafficking nation. As far as the amount, they can use any they deem proper to deny entry into Panama arbitrarily, regardless of set amounts posted anywhere.

This is very common in Japan and Israel as well...

Dominicans are rather very welcomed in Panama, mind you...

The only thing Dominican that's welcome in Panama is Bachata and Merengue. Ask the Panamanians.

There's a shortage here in medical professionals that's true so anything is better than nothing.
Wow invitado de honor, it was their turn nothing special.
I'm talking about the average Dominican coming here looking for a better life they're not very welcome!! Ask the cabdrivers, people in the streets etc they'll tell you!!!
