From today's Sosua News:

Friday, September 30 and Saturday and Sunday 1 and 2 October it's time for the Multicultural Gastronomic Festival in Sos?a. The festival is organized by TURISOPP (organization for the development of tourism) and will take place in the park Las Flores behind the taxi stand and next to the Sos?a Bay Casino in our beach town. Lovers of good cuisine can then enjoy a varied menu of the best dishes from 40 different countries. More than 17 restaurants from Sos?a and surrounding area will provide these dishes. During the Gastronomic Festival artists and musicians will make the festival even more attractive.
For more info about the Festival: Tel: (809) 261-2993 Or you can email umpc.sosua@gmail.com

any details? will there be food stalls? a park seems an unlikely place for truly gastronomic experience :) i'd expect something more than plastic plates to try international cuisine :)
but as a food lover i am interested!

Okay, so cross carnival food with fine dining in a beach town environment. Sounds like great fun and an opportunity to try some food from restaurants never frequented. What could be better?!? (Aside from a guarantee of good hygiene, fresh meat poultry, fish and produce, and an assurance that food is properly refrigerated until prepared?)

I will go, anyway! Sounds like my kind of fun in Sosua!

Sounds like an ideal setup to get a case of food poisoning.

dude, after 5 years in DR and about a hundred cases of salmonella, helicobacter, proteus and god knows what more i have gained some longed for immunity :) i eat street food and i survive. and food poisoning is a good intestinal cleanup! ;) :)

I keep my Hepatius C vaccine up to date for occasions like this so I will attend as well.

With 40 countries attending I am wondering how many will bring fresh yellow lemons.

Who didn't see that coming?

17 restaurants show casing food from 40 different countries? Makes one wonder why they can't do more than about 5 to 10 countries on a regular basis. I do applaud the attempt and hope it goes well.

All tables will be under one big tent. All portions will be "taster" size, which is why plastic plates are being used. "Food Festival" would have been a better name IMO. Please show your support.

This is a marketing effort to determine who would buy certain dishes if the local restaurants could prepare them correctly on a consitent basis.

If the chinese restaurant from Cabarete shows up with won ton soup with any filling in the wontons that would be a new twist.

Mike this has nothing to do with a marketing effort. Each restaurant is showcasing 5 of their top dishes sold as sample sizes at a low price. There is no hidden agenda to the festival, just a regular food festival for locals and tourists to attend. There will be music of course.
