I have been going to the guy who teaches at the Collegio in Callejon for some months now. He's cheap and very good-natured though i have to say that he is, like all the spanish teachers i have experienced here, a bit formulaic.

It seems that teachers in the DR seem only able to 'follow the book'. There is very little creativity to their teaching and it really is just one exercise after another with no real understanding of what areas might need more work.

I spent the last 2 years before coming here, learning french and i was lucky to have a much better standard of private teaching than i can find here in the DR. A private teacher should be able to mix up their classes a bit: some listening, writing, discussion, grammar and a bit of play all helped me to learn quickly. But the main thing is that they should be able to see what areas you need to work on more and respond accordingly.

If anyone does know of a teacher like this in the Cab/Sosua are then i would really love to hear of them.
