Residents of the La Uni?n neighbourhood and users of the road between Los Castillos and the entrance of the airport, complain about the illegal motorcycles races on the road. Young people between 16 and 25 years old compete among themselves and bystanders can bet on the races.
The winners can earn prizes from 500 to 1000 pesos. But by their irresponsible behavior they put themselves and other road users in danger. The bikes can reach speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour. The underlying problem is that young people are unemployed and are really bored. These races are an exciting diversion for the youngsters and they can also earn money and fame. The commander of the National Police Reymundo de la Rosa Ogando, has in response to the many complaints and accidents, announced that the police takes strong action against the lawbreakers. There will now be regularly patrols on this section of the road.
