Flights to Jamaica?

I'm going to visit the DR soon and was hoping to swing by Jamaica while I was in the area.

I have not been able to find any good flights between the two countries. Everything I've found is from DR -> Miami -> Jamaica or vice versa.

The two islands don't look that terribly far apart on a map. Are there no direct means of getting from one to another?

Thanks in advance.

Nothing commercial (since Caribair), charter only for direct flights. Going commercial it costs more during high season to fly to MBJ R/T from SDQ than it costs from DCA. Spirit can get you there through FLL, AA will get you there via MIA or SJU and Delta offers a multi stop through ATL/JFK for about a grand that takes an entire day.

You will have to go through USCIS on both legs and when you get into Jamaica, because it's been less than 6 weeks since leaving D.R. you will be screened and placed on an environmental health watch list for dengue/malaria.

You'd be better off getting with a group for a charter.
