A few months ago, someone posted some information on setting up alternate IP addresses in your internet settings. I have searched and searched and can't find the information. I recently had my hard drive replaced and have lost all my old settings and need to put them back.

Can anyone assist me?

thank you!

Do you mean changing the DNS from Codetel's or do you mean setting up a static IP address?

Proxies, HideYourAss etc. Many services allow you to hide your "real" IP address.

Or as La Profe_1 posted, maybe your DNS?

A good and free option to hide your IP (you'll get a US IP address) is hotspot shield. If you're looking for alternate DNS, try using google's, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Yes!!! the google one was one of them...thank you! There was a second one that you could use at the same time.

Sorry if my "IT" lingo wasn't right...I didn't mean IP address...I meant alternate DNS numbers.

Anyone know what the second one was? Or remember where I can look it up?

www.OpenDNS.com is another solid solution. Their settings:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Thank you Cobraboy!!!! That is exactly what I was looking :classic:

Now, the next question.....

Anyone remember the website to download the software that allows you to track your computer if it decides to go for an unescorted trip without you?
