Just what Santo Domingo needs, another food franchise :)

Get ready, we are fast approaching the era of the gorditas!

It the only country I have been in that the local population consider Wendy's upscale. hehehe

Another franchise

It is going to be similar to when Krispy Creme openend. A huge event with cars and people in line to get in.

Sweet...Yet another contribution to the Americanization (Read high percent of obese population) of Santo Domingo.

I wonder if Pichardo is the Alter Ego of Donp. Think about it...Don Pichardo...If not I think they should team up for one of those point and counterpoint programs. Pichardo could tell us what a perfect place The DR is while DonP can tell us what a dangerous depressing place The DR is...:dead:

Now there is a place I never went into while living in the US. Come to think of it, IKEA was another place I never went into.

I like Johnny Rockets, one of the few places where you can still get a real chocolate malt...

The only thing I like about that place is the layout of the restaurant. There's no way any of those restaurants can compete with Picalo's burguer.. It will be successful until the novelty wears out.

I like Johnny Rockets but I don't think we need to worry about these types of franchises bringing in the American "gordito" syndrome. As Robert pointed out Wendy's is upscale for most people here. The American franchises are only going to be patronized by the very small percentage of the population that can afford it. Until the price of fast food is within the budget of the average citizen it won't really matter whether the restuarants are here or not to the average citizens' weight.

Don't you love the way drug money is diverted to a cool 50's hang out?, heyyyyy where's Fonzi?

These types of businesses is only a "fad" pretty soon it will be converted to a car lot

But then again it's hard (next to impossible) to find a Wendy's with this type of approach to fast food settings in the first world, as they do here in the DR:

I had lunch at the Johnny Rockets in the Mall near my home, for the first time, with daughter and grandson. The burger was one of the best I've ever had, and we loved the little dancing show the servers put on every so often. I wonder if they'll be dancing to the oldies in DR too? Our waiter told us to be sure to try their milk shake next time, claims they're the best around.

I don't know about there, but Johnny Rockets isn't 'fast food' here, certainly not like McDonalds or Wendy's. All the food is cooked to order
