Someone had kindly given the procedure as to what direction and line to go in at the airport. I have looked but cannot find the post. Can anyone remember or direct us. This is our first visit to DR. Thanks much.

We understand that you have to go into different line to buy a tourist pass etc
Follow the crowd.............purchase tourist card $10 per person
Follow the crowd.............stand in line to get your passport stamped
Follow the crowd.............wait for luggage to arrive
Follow the crowd.............get in line to clear customs
.............Exit the airport..............

Seriously, look for a booth selling the tourist card. After that basically just go where all other passengers are going. There are two different lines when you go to get your passport stamped but they are clearly marked...resident/non-resident.

You should receive two forms on the plane to fill out ahead of time. One other thing SDQ airport is very good with comparing your checked luggage receipt with the tag on your luggage so try not to misplace that.

Enjoy your trip.............

Follow the crowd.............purchase tourist card $10 per personHave correct change in foreign currency (dollars?) They are annoyed at having to make change.
Follow the crowd.............stand in line to get your passport stamped Smile, say thank you
Follow the crowd.............wait for luggage to arrive Marvel at how a family of 4 still manages to travel with 15 suitcases, retrieve your one rolling bag and carry-on, by-pass half the line still waiting for the rest of their bags
Follow the crowd.............get in line to clear customsLook like a tourist, get waved through
Use the bathroom by the car rentals on the way out.............Exit the airport.............. Expect the red carpet treatment--always a crowd outside waiting to pick someone up.

Breathe in that Santo Domingo air.

Enjoy your trip.

Hi:

Very simply walk down the hall to immigration. When you enter the large room you go immediately to your right, next to the money exchange kiosk is where you buy the tourist card. It is now actually a reciept of paper. You then proceed in line to go through immigration with your passport. Make sure you have to immigration forms, that were given to you on the plane all filled out ready to hang over. It is a simple process for tourists. Also have your bag check in stubs ready. They check those against your luggage before exiting into the arrival area. Good luck.
