Cheap and Decent Hotel in Santo Domingo

Hello Everyone,

I'm currently going through the immigrant visa process for my wife and now we're at the interview stage. The appointment is Monday, 4/23/12 at 7:30am.


Can anyone recommend a decent and reasonably(cheap) place for a two night stay for us and our four year old son in Santo Domingo that is not too far from the U.S. Embassy?

Barcelo Gran Lina is walking distance to the US consulate, shows in the bar, great pool, Casino and two restaurants.
I usually pay around $90 per night on their site.

Hotel Jardines del teatro, just in front of the embassy. Nothing fancy but neat and cheap. it used to be 50 USD for a night.

Carey House Hotel............You could walk to the embassy, but with a four year old a taxi to the embassay should be 150 pesos. Small room, two beds, small frig, Wi-Fi, A/C around 1800 pesos a night.

Thanks and very much appreciated BB. We're driving from Puerto Plata to Santo Domingo. I took the bus one time. Left at 3:00am and had no restroom. I almost didn't make it.

Don't judge the hotel by it's website. The website hasn't changed or been upgraded in at least four years. I know the single room with one bed is $45 USD (4995 RD for my three night stay). I believe the room with two beds is $5 more a night.

BTW, contact page worked for me.

Yes on facebook there was a quote this morning for $50 US per night.

The Courtyard Marriott is right there. Very good for kid. Has a small pool in the back. But it is not $50 per night - more like $100 per night - so may not be the best choice if trying to stay someplace inexpensive. But it is very safe, very clean and right in the area you are looking for.

hotel El Senorial , It is right off the malecon by the obelisk ,50-65 $ a night, good food ,good location.
