Hello,

Glad to link up with so many ex-pats. I've been to DR twice now, and am working to move there in a year or two. I'm hoping to take a month long trip soon so I can stay in an apartment closer to "real" living styles as opposed to resorts or tourist type of ammenities.

I have two questions - I currently work in IT as a Systems/Linux administrator. I know DR has a booming telcom infrastructure - does that mean I should shoot for Santo Domingo? Or are there other areas where an IT professional can work?

And lastly - do any of you work on any of the resorts? If so...thoughts?

Thanks. Hope you're enjoying the island I hope to call home.

And btw - what the hell is an "AI" tourist? And "PoP" I'm assuming means Puerto Plata? Maybe a ladger or some type of index could be created for acronyms and other word usages not readily identifiable by us new folk. Just a suggestion. Thank you!

Can't help you on the job front as know nothing about IT. I would have thought the best jobs would be in Santo Domingo though or maybe Santiago.

AI is all inclusive
POP - Puerto Plata
AILA -Las Americas International Airport
Edeeste/norte/sur - part time electricity companies
OP - original poster
Amet - traffic police
dncd - drug squad

There's a few to get you started
