There is something off about these pics, I miss the ambiance / vibe! I've been going to El Malecon quite a couple of times and these pictures don't do El Malecon right.

Maybe because nobody was posing, that could be it.. I don't know.

Nobody's swimming in the ocean. The security won't allow people to swim because the water is polluted from the outflow of the Rio Ozama.

That's why they have all these portable swimming pools which the political candidates use for displaying themselves for the elections by the looks of it. They probably will only last till the elections also and after that?

Good morning Pichardo -

Thanks for posting the photos!

Listen, anything that brings out bikinis and Dominican girls closer to my house is a winner! :)

The portable swimming pools are already gone.

They were there from Wednesday to Sunday for Semana Santa which was a big success.

Cleanng up the river is another story.

LOL, what made you think I was talking about people swimming in the ocean!?!?

I meant, I was in El Malecon during Semana Santa and the way I saw it it was way more crowded, it was very sunny and everybody had fun.. those pictures do display that people have fun but it doesn't seem like it was that crowded and funny as how I remembered. That's all.

I understood that these pools would be taken to specific locations on certain dates like holiday weekends, not installed permanently. That means they would be filled by municipal staff and used for just a couple of days at a time, before being emptied and removed again. At least that's how I read it. :)
