Yesterday's thunderstorm decided to hit the outlet my UPS (Omega 1200W) was plugged in. A blue flame shot out, and since then , when plugged in, it keeps beeping.

Does this means it is shot, and ready to be sold to the old iron buyers, or is there a way to fix this?

At the same time, my monitor got the same hit, and does not do anything at all anymore? Same question, is there a guy who can repair it, or rubbish bin and new one?

Thanks,

It sounds like both are shot. Probably cheaper to get new units than to have them fixed. Decent monitors are very cheap from Tiger Direct and as long as under $200 you would not pay an import fee. I recommend getting the UPS locally.

MAYBE the UPS can be repaired. It is basically a mini-inverter. Call in inverter repair shop. If the repair cost is under 1500 pesos, just repair it, otherwise buy new. The monitor - I am afraid you will have to buy a new one.
