I am interested in going from Pedernales in the DR to Jacmel in Haiti without going up to the Jimani border or to Port Au Prince. I have been through the border at Jimani and it can be enough to make me scream! I know I can walk over to Anse A Pitres in Haiti from Pedernales. But is it a dead end from there? I have heard about a twice weekly boat but it doesn't sound very good. I read it is grossly overloaded and open and people have lost their lives taking it when it has sunk. Would anyone know of any other transportation? Tap taps? A better if more expensive boat? I have no illusions that public transportation over the border in Haiti is comfortable, but I am not so young or athletic.

This is my first post on this forum. Thanks to anyone who answers.

Oh, I re read my question and wanted it to be clear: I am NOT asking for information about any illegal crossing. The crossing at Pedernales to Haiti is legit.
Thanks. And hello to all from a new member.
