Looking for an 16,000 BTU Aircondition. Fair price and good installation. Any recommendations?

Before you buy it you may want to calculate how much it will cost you to run it. That is why you will not find many for sale.

I thought that in this country the units were at 12.000 . 18,000 and then 24,000 ..you need a good 18,000 for a large bedroom and depending where you are you can do little better than Plaza Lama

Where abouts are you? I you are on the north coast I may be able to help you.
What is the size of room you want to be cooled and type of construction.
I have been ibstalling air conditioning in the Caribbean for 17 years and you definitely need to size the unit right or the running costs will be very high.

BTU Calculations......Room Area BTU = Length (m) x Width (m) x 337

I must be doing something wrong.

A 10 x 10 room with that calculation comes to 33,700

Yep, i was using feet and not meters...... lol

A 12,000 btu would be fine if it is 10ft by 10ft. i have a Carrier 12k high efficiency inverter splt unit in Sosua, it is brand new in box if you want one.

Does the room height get factored into this? I have a room that is 4.5m x 5.9m but its got a big cathedral ceiling about 3m-4m in height. I went to Plaza Lama and Sirena and they say a minimum of 18Kbtu.

Not to my knowledge. Spoke to a A/C installer and he said only if the ceilings are more than 14 feet

16k BTU will give you cooling for 55 to 60 m2. Like stated never seen a 16k. A 12k will cover 38 to 42 m2 comfortably. An 18 k is for about 75 m2. I use an 11k floor unit for a 20m2 bedroom and bath ( when there is power ). The floor unit works good as a dehumidifyer also. Thank god i get to spend my summers in New England.
