I'm familar with the routes from SD north and RTE 1 thru Maimon. From the airport it seems far better to pick up Rte. 23, up thru Monte Plata. How is this road? Is it necessary to go east of BC and come back around or is there a better way to connect northeast of SD Este. Realize it will be dirt roads for a good portion. Will a cheapo rental get it done or is it necessary to have something mas duro? I've rented in SD before, but always let my wife drive!! Recomendations for a rental out of SDQ would be nice.
