Being in SDQ yesterday I remembered a question i wanted to ask since long. I checked in Google Earth and I found it but no name is mentioned there nor is the map very detailed there...

We were visiting the German embassy which is on the top floors of the Piantini tower. GREAT VIEW from there, unfortunately taking pictures from up there is not allowed.

So, when looking to the north you see a mountain range. Anybody knows how its called and if it is more or less developed?

Thanks in advance

I know the cordilleras and their names ;) I would like to know if there is a name for that specific part that seems to be close to Santo Domingo, i.e. if there are suburbs, or residential areas.

Those are foothills of the Cordillero Central. The mountains on the North Shore are the "Septentrional" (5 syllables).
