The semi-finals of the men's 400 m should be one of the races to garner the most media attention at the London Olympics. South Africa's Oscar Pistorius has become the first amputee sprinter to make it to the finals. American defending champion LaShawn Merritt suffered and injured and is out of the race. He was Dominican Republic's Luguelin Santos nemesis in the competitions leading up to the Olympics. 19 year old Luguelin Santos could be the Dominican Republic's last chance at a medal in the Olympics. Luguelin qualified first in his heat with 45.04.
Luguelin is fortunately the underdog in the race, and the media pressure is not on him.
He runs today at 3:40pm, Sunday, 5 August. The finals are on Monday.

He also goes against race favorite 25 year old Martyn Rooney of the Great Britain.
