Does anyone know what the cost of a tinaca and can they be purchased locally or do we have to go to Puerto Plata. I realize that they come in different sizes but am just wondering if anyone knows price ranges.

I think I paid 6500 pesos for either a 300 or 240 gallon in montellano. something around that price anyway. bargain. I also paid about 25,000 pesos for a 1000+ gallon cinterna. Obviously the guys dug it out and built it.

do they have them in the ferreteria at the gas station? if not I know they sell them in cangrejo, so not far.

Check around before you buy. We looked around in Santo Domingo, and then found one at a tiny ferreteria not far from our house (i.e., the middle of nowhere) for a lot less. We got a 550 gallon one for 7500 pesos.

When you drive down the site of the papaterra building, they have them there.

Same thing for Linares in Cabarete.

No idea about prices though

Check Deposito Ferretero there in POP...They "should" have the better prices. And check with Ochoa and Bellon in Santiago for comparison purposes.
