Good Afternoon, Before taking out an advertisement here I would like to hear the collective opinion if there is a market, is the market resident or visitor, and what is a fair daily price for a combined Driver/Vehicle Translator Guide & Security person for the Santiago area.

I recall there have been numerous requests for this service.

Daily trips, weekly tours/service, airport pickup and returns.
Oddly, nobody advertises that here...they just How? Where? Who?

I would try it if I were you.... might even meet nice people and get return business

Thats hard whenthe gas changes all the time....

Figure your time, some for the car and then the gas.

Of course, you could just ask for your time + vehiculo and have the customer fill the tank....
2000 pesos is some gas............. let them fill you.... 1000drp at a time

I don't think everyday tourist will be interested.

Getting to the right clients that you want is the first problem. How to attract them and get to them. Many that would desire such a service don't make their own plans; they have staff that does it. They don't care how much you charge as long as you are good at what you do and must be willing to take a lot of ?. meet their demands.

Getting to know the people that handle the private planes at the airports might help. The private plane/jet and helicopter companies here and that serve clients around the world. The managers at the upper end hotels. Bank executives. Higher end industry people. Theater managers. CASINO managers/owners. High end property managers such as Sea Horse Ranch?

I'm also thinking of the Australian guy with his loving new Los Vegas wife that are re-doing the Playa Chiquita casino, hotel across from it, show lounge for 500, finishing a mansion and has a private Jet in Miami for when they come to the D.R. I don't recall his name but there is a thread somewhere here on DR1. I also did a little research since we live in the same area. (me thinks he will need a lot of your type of services)

What kind of car, how it is equipped and driver skills for evading situations. Armed and trained with a weapon? Knows how to work with the above people to use more secure entrances, exits and procedures. Is more then one car/driver available for groups?

If thinks keep going the way they are doing here in the D.R., I too will be a client. LOL

With regard to the security services demand here in Santiago from what I've seen only those who are in questionable or risky businesses have personal security. I have heard it can be precarious going to clubs at 3 in the morning but other than that for most of us here who know how to get around there isn't much of an issue.

I would say somewhere between $99 and $149 a day for full service. Anything "special" would be extra. No pimping, no procuring "illegal substances" ////

That said, a well dressed and savvy driver is worth his weight in gold.

JJ (Bachata) and Wilson are making and have made a lot of money dealing with tourists, and I think that the demographic for this service might be Investors, Gamblers, and Free Zone business visitors who need to feel safe and cared for...

This is something new, and I like it.

Good Afternoon, I really thank you guys for your advice as I do not have business experience and some of you have been succesful at several types. A conscious decision has been made not to be armed. Any other comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry for the small hijacking

but there is a need for a shuttle from STI to POP/Sosua/Cab area
look at all the threads asking how to get to the northcoast at 4 am
buy a van or two ,hire a dependable dom driver
put an Ad on DR1
could be a nice little income

I sure thought about it lol

I think that this should be entered into the business concept.

YEARSSSS ago, my flight into POP was cxled so I took the STI flight that arrived in the middle of the night. Only one or two cabs could be found and only one (the beat up one with no AC) would go to Sosua. U.S. $70. I was... not a happy camper.

$70 us is not a lot of money to pay for a taxi. It cost me around 1500 pesos in gas to go from santiago to sosua and back.
