Would anyone know what those raptures that glide over the mountains going towards Limon in Las Terrenas? Some have said it could be osprey.

If I am not mistaken those are "Malfini" in Haiti... I don't know their Spanish name...

They are most likely egreta (egrets) Google birds of the Dom Rep and you can get all kinds of info.

Thanks guys. They're not egrets, they look like birds of prey, rather large. Never seen them before, very impressive, thanks again. Read where falcons make their homes in the DR as well, there's probably a wildlife organization in DR.

Black and large?
Then most likely 'Cathartes aura'.
We see them almost daily circling over the hills of our finca.

You guys are awesome. I first saw them while staying in Ocean Breeze in the Parque Las Terrenas. They are beautiful.
