OK, I've never visited Sosua; but by reputation it's ground zero for "pay for play" (i.e. prostitution). Is Punta Cana following in the same steps?

Certainly, "the world's oldest profession" is nothing new to P.C. in the evenings at the bars and clubs, but I noticed a new trend during my visit in June and again last week. Maybe in the past I was oblivious, but I had never noticed overt "working girls" trolling for trouser trout on the beach before. In June, I had seen a few "vendors" plying their wares strolling the beach, and chalked it up as an anomaly. Last week and the week before, I saw a couple of "business negotiations" in progress, (but obviously no actual "transactions"). In one case the negotiations included one of the young women aggressively and enthusiastically physically testing the guy's equipment by hand, under the observation of her "management consultant", (i.e. pimp). Ironically I recognized the "consultant" as one of the many excursion vendors ... this takes the meaning of "excursion" to a whole new level. LOL

So... is this something new??? OR, have I been so busy looking at the natural beauties of the beach (sun, surf, beach), that I have missed what was going on around me?

This is The Dominican Republic, really nothing new, it is just a bit more low key on this beach and kept under control.
There was really no need to start a new thread on pimps and hoes, it is what it is.
Check out the casino @ Hard Rock if you want to go shopping.

OHHHHHH.... this is the D.R.???? REALLY????? I didn't know that. Once again you dazzle with your crystal clear insight and comprehension (yes ... this is sarcasm).

I asked a perfectly legitimate question about possible (undesirable) changes in P.C. I AM NOT looking to go "shopping". In fact, I'd much prefer if the festivities were kept under wraps... not out on the public beach. I'm certainly NOT a prude by any means, it's just that when I'm sitting on the beach, I'd rather watch the surf than some chica yanking on a guy's johnson (even through his shorts).

BTW... if/when Robert makes you a Moderator, (heaven forbid), THEN you can dictate what others post or don't post.

~CaptnGlen....we have seen this on each and every trip down to PC, the last time a few weeks ago this "Chica..comes up to mi esposo..."Massage Mister"...me give you good massage...he politely tells her no thanks...she persists... I see this happening as I am sitting on the sun bed...I get up, walk down to where she was attempting to make a sale, she looks at me...and asks if we want a couples massage....I looked at her and told her that I will Massage her FACE if she doesnt make her departure....she quickly walked away and the remaining days on La Playa were uneventful and peaceful:)

It does seem to be happening more openly then it use to....we even saw a Man Soliciting other men this past time....

haha... jrjrth ... call me naive, but during my visits over the past years, (up until this summer), I thought the massages offered on the BEACH were REAL massages. They often offer massage to mi esposa too, so I figured they really meant "massage"... not "MASSAGE". LOL

~No this Chica was working him, she asked if he "Needed something else", when he told her he didnt want the massage, she walked over from the area just past the El Pulpo Cojo....the massage table newly added to the Pulpo Cojo are ligit massage tables, the owner has chased off these soliciators, however some get by when they see an opening....overall its not been too bad....this last time just got under my skin because she was being relentless....don't "F" with Jersey's man!!!

~On another note...what did you think when you arrived to find a New Wall built with a new road to the beach??? You have a shorter walk now:)

I like what they seem to be doing there (but not necessarily a big fan of the wall... it's OK I guess / could be worse). Nice road and it looks like a park that is going to be a permanent addition... kid's play area etc. Just hope they don't end up closing the access off. I had heard that the property owner is developing it for condos or something. It is a little closer, but the beach at Tiki Bar is still even a little closer for me. I didn't actually go to Tiki Bar this time, (unfortunately), The Admiral plotted the course to el Pulpo beach most of the time, and we walked down to Bamboo Bar one day... gotta love those pitchers of Sangria on the beach. LOL Also noticed another small price increase for Presidente at el Pulpo ... pretty soon I'll be packing a cooler. LOL At least there's no demand to purchase or to pay to sit on their beach chairs... which Tiki Bar DOES charge a small fee for.

You guys do know prostitution is LEGAL in DR. This is like going to Las Vegas and becoming upset because of all the casinos.

BTW Punta Cana will never be anything like Sosua. The DARK side of Sosua is like no other, wait maybe Boca Chica. Talk about Sodom and Gomorrah.

I spent about 21 hours in Sosua and that was 20 hours 59 mins and 58 seconds too long.

I'm not upset at all... I just don't want to watch the action... at least not there on the beach.

~We noticed the price increase as well for the Presidente. However as the two weeks progressed the price kept coming down...we ate lunch there a few times over the course of the time spent there...this is my guess as to the decreasing cost of the beer.....$1.75US was the cheapest and $3.00 was the highest

If you have a large group of foreigners anywhere in DR, you are going to have male and female prostitution not far behind. They go hand and hand.

Just like if you have an area with a drug problem, that same area has a gun problem.

I go to Sosua once a week with my pregnant wife and 3 year old son, and absolutely never had any issues that would make us think it was the worst place on the planet.. What the hell were you doing that you could only enjoy the place for 2 seconds? The nicest restaurants on the entire NC are in Sosua, beautiful water park, some of the nicest condos on the entire island (infiniti blu) .. I guess you can find a ghetto wherever you go in the world and complain about it.. but Sosua is one of the better places in the world to live if you ask me..

You know who bad mouth Sosua more then anybody I have met? You guest right other Dominicans. The first and only time I spent time in Sosua EVERY Dominican in the capital told me "don't go to Sosua it is very bad" A place of HUSTLERS & HOES and if you love that city so much, then you need to tell some of the guys, sex is not meant to be bought.

BTW Look at my college DePaul U and now look at your school in southern Florida. Now tell me who trumps who. If I wanted to major in how to peel an orange maybe southern Florida would have made my list. Don't even try to say you attended UCLA or USC I know better. If I had to guess I would say Miami Dade College NICE!!!

After all these years, I still don't know what that means.

Did you go to college? By your spelling and use of words I don't think so.
Sosua is better off with the likes of you not visiting.

Dodging them hoes at Sosua Ocean Village and Infiniti Blu is so hard, they just come at you from every end.. I also can't remember seeing any of them on the top of La Mulatta at the beautiful Thai restaurant run by an awesome dude.. I went to University of Miami and I've never even heard of Depaul U, but congrats.. just lay off the sauce man..
