There are now roughly 23 La Sirena hypermarkets nationwide employing thousands of people (it is the largest private Dominican employer).

pushed back to next year. ramos wanted to open the stores in more prominent locations first. but according to my inside source the sosua store is going to be BIG. similar in size to POP store...

but la sirena in Puerta Plata isn't big compared to others - like the one on the autopista in santiago, or the one in san francisco. i was underwhelmed and a little disappointed by the one in PP

The "Old Rumor" here on DR1, is that Ramos has to open several more locations, before "Walmart",or some "Big Box" US chain, buys them out.
But they can get "IKEA" for "peanuts" at the same time, with "Krispy Kream" thrown in for, "Chump Change"!!!!!!

THANK GOD THEY HAVE FINALLY OPENED...

They had been suckering way too many people out from free zone and other business workers with false promising BIG salaries and employee benefits. Little over couple of dozens of our employee had been suckered in to La Sirena Grand Opening hype, and you won't believe how it is difficult to find a workers or retrain them in this part of the country. Now they have opened and firing it's fireworks, soon they will start weeding out what they have.

Does anybody have about how many they hired in Moca and do over and under? I don't know how many they hired but I think they will cut more then 2/3 of their employee by 1st qtr of 2013.

It wouldn't be able to operate with 2/3 of the employees hired.
