opening a bank account

does anyone know if I can open a personal bank account with a copy of my passport?

Please advise.:)

With just a copy? Nope. Unless you are opening an additional account in a bank where you already have other accounts and everyone knows you in a branch and the bank has a documentation on you on file already, but even then it's 50/50. For a brand new account in a brand new bank, NO!

If you take your passport in and they make the copy.... Yes.

Depends what bank you go to - incredible what they require in this country to hold "your" money !
