Does anyone know if this store ever re-opened, and is it open now? Tried to do a search as I'm sure it was mentioned in the past, but alas no luck.

Thanks for anyone's update on this.

Regards

If you mean "Solo a RD$10" on the corner of 12 de Julio and 16 Agosto, yes, it is still open. But nothing there is cheaper than it ought to be. I have seen better prices in Margarita or among the "ofertas" in La Sirena.

It does have its uses. Friends went their to equip the apartment they had rented for six weeks. They could do it all in one place there and didn't mind shoddy stuff as it was only for six weeks, after which to be given to charity.

Needless to say, not much is priced at RD$10. First time I ever went there they were unloading cheap "home entertainment systems" priced around RD$15,000.

Thanks for the info. I need kid's gifts - toys - used to have a lot around Xmas time; haven't been there other times of years. I think you have to be a good shopper everywhere, as most stuff here is shoddy, regardless of price!

Not too familiar with Puerto Plata, know where La Sirena is, Tropical, and Casa Nelson. Can you give me more specific info s where Gonzales is so I can find the other dollar store? Thanks so much.

Solo Diez is now located at the top of 27 de Febrero. The street that Supermercado Tropical is on but father up it is right across the street from the funeral parlor Blas Blas.

Apologies for the bum steer. I walked past a few days ago and they were working in there. Maybe just clearing out stock or getting ready for a new owner. Another place for cheap toys is Margarita, just west of Parque Central. But again, cheap as in cheap quality, not cheap at the price.

No problem London777, I am not going until next week, and will find one of the other ones. I'll let you know if I go and whether I find what I'm looking for.
