Nice Hotel near Gazcue?

This week we have to go to Santo Domingo on business. We are going to take the bus from Sosua rather than drive ourselves, so will have to spend the night and return the next day.

We have stayed at the BQ Hotel (just OK), Holiday Inn (nice, but too $$$$ for what it is) and the Hilton (very nice, $$$$ and FULL).

Please, could we get some suggestions on where to stay other than those hotels?

Also, we would rather spend less, but still have a quality hotel, if possible.

Swiss owned hotel El Se?orial on Pres. Vicente Burgos just south of Independ?ncia and a long block north of the Obelisk on the Malec?n. Good restaurant, reasonable. 1400p single.

Also try the Danai or the Gran Mansi?n on Calle Danai which runs north from Independ?ncia one block west of Dr. Delgado. 900p to 1200p single.

The Napolitano on the malecon is reasonable ($70+ tax) with a nice pool and great location.
