Mi Corazon won best of the event, and the winning dishes are at Cane this weekend.

Las Terrenas invades Cane Restaurant
A sample of the eclectic fusion gastronomy of Las Terrenas is being showcased at Cane Restaurant in Santo Domingo. Chef Cristian Baez of Hotel Boutique Sublime Samana Hotel & Residences (Coson Beach) and chef Florian Strahlheim of Mi Corazon (Las Terrenas) are presenting their award-winning dishes at the Taste of Santo Domingo gastronomy event. The event, Gastronomic Festival Las Terrenas Art at Cane is on from 20 to 30 June at the restaurant on Av. Abraham Lincoln 1059 in Santo Domingo, Tel 809 368-2200.

The winning dishes include a starter of Sanchez shrimp in tandoori plantain mousse, vanilla jelly, pineapple and ginger relish, mushrooms with avocado sauce. Other tempting choices include a main dish of chicken stuffed with prunes and bacon, served with cassava bread, mushrooms and tarragon sauce. There is also a red tuna salad with potatoes in saffron, tomato vinaigrette and caramelized black olives. For dessert, try the chocolate pastry with Bani mango sweets, sorbet and chocolate sauce with wasabi.
